It’s a vital step because it lays the groundwork for accurately assessing the value of the estate and determining any potential tax liabilities. Moreover, a complete inventory ensures that all assets are accounted for and distributed fairly according to the deceased’s wishes or state law.

Ordinarily, we file a detailed inventory and appraisal (Forms DE-160/161) with the court, providing transparency throughout the probate proceedings.
